ArTech Fusion

The UL College of the Arts’s presents ArTech Fusion , Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Acadiana Center for the Arts from 6:30 - 9:30 p.m. ArTech Fusion will feature performances and talks that promote and highlight the dynamic relationship between the arts and technology, through the use of creative collaboration. Premiere performances and lectures will feature video, dance, animations, spoken word and music. Additionally, The College of the Arts will honor the SPARK Lifetime Achievement Award winner, Herman Mhire.

Herman Mhire was named Distinguished Professor in the College of the Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, where he taught from 1977 until his retirement in 2005. He also served as Director/Chief Curator of the University Art Museum for 17 years, where he envisioned and established the Paul and Lulu Hilliard University Art Museum. Additionally, he is the founding president of Festival International de Louisiane. Trained as a painter and printmaker. His work has been widely exhibited and critically acclaimed. Since 1977, Mhire has devoted his life and work to cultivating the Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, the greater Lafayette community, and beyond. Through his many roles as a curator, artist, and professor he continues to serve as an ambassador of the Arts for Louisiana locally and internationally.

ArTech Fusion is the central event of the Festival of the Arts, a three-week celebration of the innovative, creative work by faculty, students, and community partners at UL Lafayette and in the local community. The festival will run March 5 - 26 at various locations on campus and around Lafayette. This year’s festival will include a fashion runway show, live music performances, theater, public lectures, and a solo art exhibition featuring new works by Herman Mhire at the Fletcher Hall Gallery.
