GARTH ALPER
Garth Alper, Instructor of jazz piano, piano, and MIDI, earned his baccalaureate
from The State University of New York, Empire State College and the M.A.
in Jazz Studies from New York University. While working towards the completion
of the classwork of his D.A. at the University of Northern Colorado, three
of the jazz groups that Mr. Alper performed with won awards from Down
Beat Magazine.
An active composer and arranger of jazz, Mr. Alper's music is presently
being published by UNC Jazz Press, one of the largest publishers of jazz
music in the United States. The Garth Alper Trio plays regularly throughout
Louisiana and has gained critical and popular success. Garth's experience
as a performer, adjudicator, and clinician, have taken him across much
of the nation.
