10 years/ 10 stories: Architecture of Recovery

Monday, August 15, 2016 - 9:00am to Friday, August 19, 2016 - 12:00pm

The UL College of the Arts, Fletcher Hall Gallery and School of Architecture and Design (SOAD) proudly presents 10 Years/10 stories: Architecture of Recovery.  The exhibition was organized and created by the AIA New Orleans Center for Design in honor last year’s 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The exhibit highlights the roles that architects have played in the recovery of the city of New Orleans over the last 10 years. The emphasis of the exhibit is on architecture and urban planning and the role of the professionals in these fields in bringing New Orleans’ built environment back to life. The exhibit’s name, 10 Years 10 Stories, speaks to the 10 themes into which the exhibit is divided, including resiliency, equality, and policy, among others.

The exhibit runs from August 1 – August 25, and is open daily Monday – Friday, from
9:00am – 5:00pm, and Fridays 9-noon. A closing reception will be held on August 25 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.

The exhibition is located in the Fletcher Hall Gallery, Room 207 on the second floor of Fletcher Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.   Parking is available in the Girard Park Circle Parking Garage adjacent to Fletcher Hall.
