Allison Leigh (Assistant Professor of Art History, Dept. of Visual Arts) submitted two articles for review over the summer. One is destined for an anthology of new scholarship on Russian art and visual culture entitled 'New Narratives of Russian and Eastern European Art.' Her essay focuses on the work of the painter Karl Briullov in the 1830s, while he was studying in Rome after training at the Academy of Arts in St. Petersburg. The other article is part of a cluster she edited with two other scholars from Yale University. The cluster of new research explores "Transnational Connections in Late Nineteenth-Century Russian Art" and was organized by Dr. Leigh to further scholarship on this under-studied area within art history.
