Shelby E. Doucet, Fourth Year Interior Design Student at UL Lafayette,
was selected as a winner in the national Habitat for Humanity interior
design competition sponsored by the Vinyl Institute.
Additionally, 4th year Students Jessica Larsen and Kathleen
Greichgauer
were cited by the Judge as having " strong submissions".
All of the 13
students enrolled in INDS 402, under the direction of Dr. Paulette
Hebert, entered the competition as part of their coursework this semester.
The
students submitted a floor plan and an essay. Many cited personal
experience and/or interest in low/moderate income housing and/or
Habitat for Humanity.
Professor Edward Cazayoux served as a guest presenter to the students
and
Hebert cited him as instrumental in shaping the students' designs.
The
judge was Jane Rohde, an interior design practitioner. Ms.
Jane Rohde,
FIIDA, AIA, ACHA, NCARB Principal JSR Associates, Inc. located
in
Ellicott City, MD . Ms. Rohde had previously visited UL Lafayette's
Iinterior
Design program at the request of Dr. Hebert in 2003 and had presented
a
Continuing Education seminar through the Vinyl Institute to the students
and faculty. Ms. Rohde personally contacted Dr. Hebert regarding
the
success of her students.
