World Premier of ‘As the World Watched’ by Composer in Residence, Quincy Hilliard

Professor and Composer in Residence, Quincy Hilliard’s newest wind ensemble titled ‘AS THE WORLD WATCHED’ was recently performed by the Mississippi State University Wind Ensemble. The piece is a programmatic work based upon the composer's view of the insane events that have happened around the world, both past and present. The abuse that mankind has perpetrated upon each other, man's inhumanity to man and the taking of human life, for no reason at all, is the major focus of this composition. The work is divided into three sections - Shock, Anger, and Depression. These are the three emotions that the composer experienced each time that he witnessed one of these catastrophic and horrifying events.
