The College of the Arts at UL Lafayette is proud to announce and honor Professor Allan Jones as our 2020 SPARK Lifetime Achievement Award. Professor Allan Jones first came to UL Lafayette in 1965 and retired in the spring of 2017.  With almost 40 years of service, Professor Jones served as a role model for departmental faculty and students through his dedication to the creative process, teaching practices, and our shared responsibilities to our students, faculty, college and the university.  Under his direction students thrived and have continued to excel in advanced degree programs throughout the United States. He understood that good teaching is an extension of an active professional research agenda. He pursued his artistic vision without compromising his commitment, dedication and continuing success in his teaching and service to the University.  Prof. Jones will join the ranks of our previous honorees; A. Hays Town, Elmore Morgan Jr., Joe Stewart, George Rodrigue, Keith Sonnier, Dicky Landry, Eddie Cazayoux, Herman Mhire, Raymond Goodrich and others.

This year’s theme is Heroes, Villians, and Sidekicks, and we are calling for one and all to support the UL Lafayette College of the Arts at our annual costume ball. Come in a costume and participate in our costume contest or compete for the best table decoration. However, you interpret the theme, bring a new friend and catch up with the old ones as we dance the night away.  Great music from the Big Band UL Jazz Ensemble, along with a delicious dinner served cocktail buffet-style. Additionally, we will also have our ever popular live and silent auctions at  http://beauxartsball2019.ggo.mobi/
