Michael Blaney, Coordinator of Strings Selected to Conduct Southern Regional Honor Orchestra

Michael Blaney (violin and orchestra) conducted the Southern Regional Honor Orchestra on Saturday, January 16 at Baton Rouge Magnet High School. Each year students compete through an audition process to be part of this premiere ensemble. The string players selected to be part of this year’s orchestra came from Baton Rouge, New Orleans, Lake Charles and Lafayette. Wind and Brass players from the UL Symphony collaborated with us to complete the ensemble. The program included Warlock Capriol Suite, Beethoven Coriolan Overture and the Finale from Shostakovich Symphony No. 5.
