This past summer in the Main Gallery at the Acadiana Center for the Arts hosted Ceramics Now: Contemporary and Traditional Practices in Acadiana. The exhibition focused on functional and traditional forms of ceramic work that we are most familiar with, along with purely visual and Avant-garde works. The exhibition looked at the scope of ceramics being made in Acadiana today.
Artworks were chosen by our jury of ceramists: Burnell Lemoine, Bruce Odell, Chris Pate, & Susan Chiquelin.
The exhibition was on view June 8, 2024 – August 10, 2024.
A large part of the exhibition is was made up of works by UL Lafayette professors, alumni, and students, providing a rich history of ceramics in Acadiana but also at UL Lafayette. The exhibition showcased several decades of alums and professors but also current students studying Ceramics within the Department of Visual Arts curriculum at UL Lafayette.
