McCallum High School Guitar Students Visit Campus for tours and a Masterclass

This February, 68 students from McCallum High School in Austin, TX visited campus. The McCallum High School Guitar Ensemble is one on the top programs of its kind in the nation winning both awards for excellence in their community and national performance awards. Their director, Andrew Clark worked with Associate Professor of Guitar, Jeff George to organize this visit, tours, and a masterclass.

Many of the students had never left Texas before. The students had po'boys from Old Tyme Grocery, had a tour of the campus and then gave a short performance at the School of Music. Afterward, Associate Professor George presented a masterclass for two of their top soloists. By all reports they all very much enjoyed their visit and plan to come back and do it again in 2018
