ArTech Fusion 17:  A Call for Proposals

The College of the Arts invites Faculty that are interested in the intersection between Art and Technology to consider proposing a short scholarly lecture (TED talk), lobby exhibition or installation, artwork, performance, or a collaborative piece for ArTech Fusion 17.

ArTech Fusion is a program in the College of the Arts that promotes and highlights the dynamic relationships between the Arts and Technology. Based on the ideas of ‘STEM to STEAM’ (http://stemtosteam.org/) we recognize the transformative innovation potential when Art and Design are integrated with Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

This will be our fifth ArTech Fusion at the Acadian Center for the Arts. Last year we saw premier performances that featured video, dance, building, animation, theater, digital art, and music. It was a wonderful evening of lectures, collaborations and performances. ArTech Fusion is a celebration of the innovative creative work by faculty, students and community partners, fostered by digital resources at UL Lafayette and in our local community.

We are looking to continue to make ArTech Fusion more inclusive by working with our STEM partners at the University and beyond. If the Colleges of Arts and Liberal Arts are adding Art and Design to STEM, then surely there is work where STEM is integrating Art and Design. STEAM is our goal.

Funding opportunities are available through our SPARK fund, for collaborations involving College of the Arts Faculty and Students. For more information, please contact: Michael McClure, Associate Dean of the College of the Arts at mxm9999@gmail.com

ArTech Fusion will be held on Friday March 17th, 2017. It is not too early to begin discussions and planning for your involvement in this unique program.
