ARTIST TALKS WITH SANDRA EULA LEE AND YUN-FEI JI

Learn more about the practices of these two artists, and how their new solo exhibitions originated at the Hilliard Museum.This event includes two slideshow presentations and is co-produced with the UL College of the Arts series of Pulse talks organized by Dr. Christopher Bennett. This program will be held in Fletcher Hall, Room 134 (ground level).

Biographies
Born in 1976, Sandra Eula Lee earned an MFA from Hunter College in 2007 and holds a BFA in sculpture and photography from Cornell University. She is the recipient of many awards including a fellowships from Creative Capital, the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, Lower Manhattan Cultural Council and Asian Cultural Council in New York. Past exhibitions of Lee’s work have included the Johnson Museum of Art, Ithaca NY; Aljira Center for Contemporary Art, Newark NJ; Lab 47, Beijing, China; Fondazione Mudima, Milan, Italy; Dada Post, Berlin, Germany; Art Space Pool, Seoul, South Korea; Bronx River Arts Center, New York NY; XiangSi Art Museum, Tianjin, China; Rush Arts Gallery, New York NY; NurtureArt, Brooklyn NY; Franklin Parrasch Gallery, New York NY; Chinese-European Art Center, Xiamen, China; and Artspace New Haven, CT. Writings on Lee’s work have also been featured in The New York Times, Artnet Magazine, Boston Globe, Harper’s Bazaar Seoul, Time Out New York, World Journal, the Korea Times and Trendebeheer, among other publications.

Yun-Fei Ji was born in 1963 in Beijing, China. He earned his BFA from the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing and his MFA from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. In 2005, Ji was Artist-in-residence at Yale University where he conducted extensive research with the institution’s scholars. He received the 2006 Rome Prize and was also later the 2007 Artist-in-residence at the Parasol Unit Foundation for Contemporary Art in London. Ji’s work has been presented in solo museum exhibitions at the Contemporary Art Museum, St. Louis; Rose Museum at Brandeis University, Waltham; Peeler Art Center, DePauw University, Greencastle; and the Institute of Contemporary Art, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. In 2012, Ji’s work was the subject of a solo presentation at the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, China. Ji’s work has been exhibited internationally.
