The UL Lafayette College of the Arts would like to congratulate incoming freshman Victoria Ladd for placing among the top 10 finalists in the 2023 George Rodrigue Foundation of the Arts Scholarship Contest. This annual contest helps support high school juniors and seniors through a visual arts competition to bolster individual participation in the arts.

This year’s theme of “Off the Beaten Path: Weird Wild, and Abstract” received over 650 submissions from high school students across the state of Louisiana. Applicants were judged based on a point system evaluating proficiency in concept/design, technical skill, and creativity.

Winners of the visual arts competition shared an award of $19,000 in scholarship funding divided between those high school juniors and seniors who placed in the top 10.

Ladd, a graduate of St. Thomas More Highschool, is an interior design major who’s work titled “Awestruck” will be on display at the Hillard Art Museum until Sept. 30. This special exhibit features the top 10 finalists from this year's competition and will continue its run throughout cultural venues and art museums across the state.
