Art Education Alumnae, Sara Duvernay wins National Award

Art Education alum, Sara Duvernay has been awarded the 2017 Higher Education Pre-service Achievement Award by the National Art Education Association. Sara will join other awardees in New York City in March 2017 to be recognized by the NAEA for contributions to the field of art education. The Pre-service Achievement Award is given to current or recently graduated art education students who were active in their educational as well as creative communities. Sara was pivotal in establishing the Art Education student chapter at UL; she actively sought opportunities to teach art outside of field experiences required for classes; and maintained a vibrant studio practice of her own. She graduated, summa cum laude, in May of 2016.  She currently teaches art at St. Stanislaus College in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.
