Allison Leigh (Assistant Professor of Art History) mentored two students to submit applications to take part in the annual Undergraduate Art History Symposium at the University of Texas at Tyler. Gabrielle Guidry (BFA '17-Graphic Design) was accepted and will be presenting her paper, "Romanticism and the Idealism of Servants in Early 1800s Russia and the United States" at the symposium in April.

Dr. Leigh also presented her latest research at the PULSE: Visual Arts Research Colloquium held at ULL on April 6. The talk, entitled "Cocottes, Prostitutes, and Flâneurs: Russian Painting and French Modernity," investigates the work of Russian artists living in Paris in the 1870s and complicates Francocentric understandings of modernity prevalent at the time.
