Hagit Barkai
Assistant Professor of
Painting / Drawing
Hagit Barkai received an MFA from Penn State University in 2008, a B.A. in Philosophy from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem in 2004, and studied drawing and painting at the Jerusalem Studio School in Jerusalem, Israel. Her paintings, drawings, prints and photo-performances explore demands addressed to the body in private and public spaces. Barkai is the recipient of the College Art Association Professional Development Fellowship in Visual Arts in 2008. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. Previously, she had taught at Davidson College, Houston Community College and Pennsylvania State University.
Liane Hancock
Associate Professor of Architecture
Previous to joining the University of Louisiana Lafayette faculty, Liane Hancock was an associate professor at Louisiana Tech University, serving as the foundation design coordinator for architecture within the School of Design. Her primary area of research is on materials and construction methods. She is currently co-authoring a book on the construction of the Pulitzer Foundation for the Arts designed by Tadao Ando.
Additionally, she has written extensively on the implementation of innovative foundation level teaching methods for national and regional conferences.
Ms. Hancock holds degrees in architecture from MIT and Columbia University.
BoSheng Liu
Assistant Professor of Architecture
BoSheng Liu is an architectural designer, maker, and educator. He has won multiple design awards, including one AIA (American Institute of Architects) Cleveland Merit Award. After graduating from Kent State University with a Master of Architecture, he worked at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and designed the Under Armour headquarters master plan. In 2016 he founded MAO JIN DAO, a design practice, and returned to Kent State University's College of Architecture and Environmental Design to serve as an architectural technologies & design faculty member.
Ana Mouyis
Assistant Professor of Computer Animation
Ana Mouyis is an Illustrator, Animator, Filmmaker, and Educator. She earned her BFA in Illustration from Parsons The New School for Design (where she has worked for the past four years as an adjunct professor) and her MFA in Animation and Motion Arts from Pratt Institute. Since 2009, she has freelanced as a commercial artist specializing in illustration and animation. Some of her clients have included The New York Times, The Boston Globe, EMI Records, Interscope Records, Novartis, Pepsico, and Rebecca Taylor. In 2014 she co-founded Circle Line Projects, an experimental production company. In addition to client work, she directs and animates independent short films. Her first film, “Pussy!” (2015) has appeared in a number of film festivals and received an ADC Awards Bronze Cube. Her most recent film "Dahlia" (2017) premiered at Animafest in her home town of Nicosia, Cyprus, where it won Best National Animation and has appeared in film festivals all over the world.
Claire Schultz
Assistant Professor of Art Education
Claire Amy Schultz, PhD, is a visual arts educator specializing in performative pedagogy and aesthetic theory. Her research interests are situated around the lived experience of the arts and arts education. She taught elementary and high school visual arts in the Middle Georgia area for six years. Prior to her appointment to the faculty of UL Lafayette, Dr. Schultz was an Assistant Professor of Art Education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Dr. Schultz studied at Wesleyan College in Macon, GA earning a BA in 2006, having double majored in studio art and art history. She went on to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) and an EdS degree, in 2009 and 2010 respectively, from Georgia College in Milledgeville, GA. She then earned her PhD in curriculum and instruction from Mercer University in Macon, GA in 2017.
Dr. Schultz is a native of Abbeville, LA and is very excited to be returning to Acadiana.
