The School of Architecture and Design is hosting Highlights: A Retrospective, a gallery exhibition showcasing Professor Andy Loewy’s two decades of leadership, teaching, and collaborative and student work within the Industrial Design Program as well as the College of the Arts at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The exhibited work shows a sense of play, self-discovery, and experimentation with a focus of hands-on techniques and materiality.

Andy Loewy, IDSA, was an associate professor of industrial design at University of Louisiana at Lafayette, he taught second-year ID, materials and processes and history of design technology. Loewy earned a master's in sculpture from University of Memphis and a bachelor's of architecture from University of Louisiana at Lafayette. Prior to joining the ranks of academia, Loewy has been a designer of products and worked in the fields of architecture and sculpture. Loewy has written and presented for the ICSID/IDSA World Design Congress, IDSA Education Symposium, Design Communication Association, National Conference on Beginning Design and the IDEC Southwest Regional conference. Loewy has been in national and regional shows and has had his work collected privately and at the Arkansas Art Center of Little Rock, Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, Memphis University and Hampshire College. Andy recently retierd from UL Lafayette in 2020.

The exhibit will be in the Dean’s Gallery, on the second floor of Fletcher Hall room, from October 1-October 31. An opening reception will be held on Wednesday October 6, 2021, from 6pm-8pm. Refreshments will be served.

Gallery Hours of operation are Monday-Thursday 9–4pm and Friday 9­–12pm.Parking is available in the adjacent Girard Park Garage. Masks and social distancing are required.
