Paint the Pelican Design Competition

Based in Lafayette, Louisiana, we provide Bottom Hole Assembly (BHA) rentals, technical services, manufacturing, and repairs that enhance drilling performance for customers nationwide. Since 1986, Stabil Drill has focused exclusively on the BHA and its components. Our team has invested in state-of-the-art facilities, equipment, and inventory like few others in the industry. Operators come to us when they need top quality products along with specialized expertise. 

Stabil Drill is accepting design submissions for their Pelican on Parade Sculpture that is exhibited in the front of their headquarters in Lafayette. They would like to refurbish the Pelican with a new and fresh design in 2022. The winning design and artist will receive a $500 award and will be reimbursed for all supplies utilized in carrying their design on the pelican.

Eligibility
This exhibition is open to currently enrolled UL Lafayette Students with a declared major or minor within the UL Lafayette College of the Arts. regardless of where they are in the program. All media is accepted. The design winner must also reproduce the final design on the Pelican.

Awards
$500 will be awarded to the winning design and artist. The winner will be selected by representatives at Stable Press. The artist will be asked to implement their design onto the actual Pelican and will be reimbursed for all art supplies utilized to making their design come to reality.

Notification
A winner will be notified by email when the adjudication process has been completed.

Dates/Schedule of Events
December 12 –  Call for entries goes out, entry forms
February 1 –   Online Submission Deadline – please submit to email provided
February 2 - 5  Jurying Process and Winner Announced
March 1 –   Completion of design

Presentation & Installation
All entries must have a completed entry label attached to the back or base and be display ready at the time of submission. Students are responsible for the presentation of their entries and are asked to make the most professional presentation possible. Professionally presented works have a greater chance of acceptance; works submitted in ill-fitting or poorly crafted frames, mats or mounts may not be accepted. Please confer with your major/minor professor(s) for guidance.

**By entering this competition, students agree to be bound by these guidelines; failure to do so will result in disqualification and forfeiture of awards. All students entering this design competition will retain full Copyright and all rights reserved of their design submissions.
